One of the most important things to do in college is to try new things and get involved- or so everyone says.
While Pace University offers a wide variety of ways to get involved, one way in particular is to join clubs like POWER, a group on campus that promotes women's empowerment and respect.
What does promoting women’s empowerment and respect mean? Well, it basically means the group discusses and has speakers come in to talk about different women’s related issues like women’s health care, intimate partner violence, body image, women in the workplace, and many other things. Along with that, the group also plans to do fun activities like taking a hike or doing beauty care sessions, and put on fundraising events for different causes that will benefit women.
Interested in joining POWER? The group meets every Tuesday (unless something conflicts with the schedule) at 3:30 p.m. in the Center for Unity and Equality located in Kessel. It is also important to note that you don’t have to be a woman to join the group! The invitation is open to anyone interested. Anyone with further questions can feel free to contact the group organizer Rachel Simon, Assistant Director and LGBTQQ Coordinator of Multicultural Affairs & Diversity Programs at Pace University.
