What's Up With The Wi-Fi?

If you’re human, odds are you use Wi-Fi. If you’re not human, odds are you’re still using Wi-Fi.

The point is, everyone in the modern world uses Wi-Fi, or wireless Internet, and everyone in the modern world wants that Wi-Fi to be fast and reliable. When it’s not, people become upset. So why does the Pace Wi-Fi seem to be unreliable to some people?

“Sometimes the Wi-Fi here really sucks,” said a Pace University freshman who preferred to remain anonymous. “It’ll be all good and then two seconds later my computer’s telling me I have no connection. Half of the time recently it doesn’t even let me go on my Instagram either.” she continued.

If everyone wants easily accessible and reliable Wi-Fi, why isn’t the Pace Wi-Fi like that? Well, for one, sharing Wi-Fi can often slow it down or cause unexpected outages, according to synonym.com. Wi-Fi is conducted through radio waves, and devices connected have to share the same Wi-Fi frequency. This can sometimes cause a problem. While some students understand this issue, they are also upset that the school has not found a way to fix this, especially considering this is a new Wi-Fi system.

“I didn’t pay this much for bad Internet. I just wish the Wi-Fi here were better.” complained the anonymous student.

If you have any comments regarding your experience with the Pace University Wi-Fi, the Pace ITS Department encourages you to voice them and fill out a survey at http://www.pace.edu/wifi-upgrade.
